The Office of Academic Career Development, Health Sciences (OACD), fosters a sense of community among the University’s NIH training grant directors and administrators, coordinates communication, and maintains Pitt’s NIH Institutional Training Grant Directory, which is a website based on a database that:
- Serves as a searchable NIH Institutional Training Grant Directory for the general public
- Automates the internal collection of some training grant data (some is confidential and not visible from the public site)
NIH Institutional Training Grant Directory
PUBLIC FACING: This resource is university-wide and serves as a recruitment platform for postdoctoral trainees, and predoctoral and undergraduate students. It is searchable by faculty or grant name, school, department, division, center/institute, type of trainees, as well as source of funding, and funding mechanisms. The OACD pre-populates the directory on a quarterly basis with publicly available data for all newly awarded NIH institutional training grants. The lists of training faculty are not publicly available, so the OACD solicits these names and emails from training grant directors to publish on this platform. Directors of renewed or continuing awards are surveyed annually for updates to training programs, such as a change in training faculty, to keep the directory current over the course of multi-year funding periods (typically five years).
AUTHORIZED ACCESS ONLY: This database also includes confidential data that is restricted to those with Pitt SSO credentials. In addition to soliciting the names and emails of training faculty, the OACD contacts new training grant directors to compile private data used to develop training tables and create institutional reports. The secure database houses the program budgets, number of slots, and names and email addresses of data delegates and/or administrative assistants who have been authorized to log into the database and maintain training program data on behalf of the training grant director.
- Request Data Delegate or Assistant Access to Directory Database
Training grant directors may identify other individuals to maintain their training grant data within the database (data delegate) or identify an administrative assistant to enhance communication between the OACD and the training grant director. Please submit requests to grant additional access to the database to traininggrants@pitt.edu.
- Request Data or Contact Information for Active Training Programs
- The OACD maintains a comprehensive spreadsheet of contact information for all active awards. This report is internally available upon request by contacting traininggrants@pitt.edu.
- Request Access to the Training Grant Directory Mailman List
- Training grant directors, data delegates, and those identified as contacts in the Training Grant Directory are automatically subscribed to this email distribution list. Other individuals may request to be added to this list to keep up to date on training grant announcements and discussions by contacting traininggrants@pitt.edu.
