The NSF is an independent federal agency established by Congress in 1950 to promote progress in science and engineering. Pitt provides information about four different NSF institutional training grant programs:
- NSF Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM)
- Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)
- NSF Research Traineeship (NRT)
- Innovations in Graduate Education (IGE)
