The NSF is an independent federal agency established by Congress in 1950 to promote progress in science and engineering. Pitt provides information about four different NSF institutional training grant programs:

  • NSF Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM)
  • Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)
  • NSF Research Traineeship (NRT)
  • Innovations in Graduate Education (IGE)
